After a lovely birthday of indulgence (spa, lunch, shoe shopping, dinner…and red velvet cake) and avoidance (any and all housework, hallelujah!), it was time to get back to being productive and tackling my to-do list. Today was all about getting through some errands.
First up, the groomers – for Wicket and mommy. Wicket was due for one last hair cut before it will be too cold to trim him down. I do love him when he’s my sweet fuzzy little boy but he’s also much easier to keep clean when he’s got more of a velvet coat. So off he went first thing in the morning. The groomers is located in his old vet’s office, so I’m never entirely sure if his trembling and whimpering is due to residual fear of the vet (nothing good ever happened there, so who can blame him) or if he doesn’t like seeing the other dogs at the groomers. Whatever the reason, it always makes me feel just awful to hand him over. It doesn’t help that he always refuses to give me goodbye kisses. Mommy feels bad enough already, you grudge-holding furry little bastard!
While Wicket was at the groomers, I jetted downtown to get my hair cut too. It always feels a little weird that Wicket’s hair cut is more expensive than mine, but then they also trim his nails so I guess when you factor in a mani and a pedi, it’s a real bargain. My hairdresser commented that my ends were very, very dry. Yet another delightful side effect of my medication. So on the way out I popped into Midtown Plaza to pick up the recommended solution – a protein treatment. I usually don’t buy fancy hair stuff, so first R (my hairdresser) had to explain in great detail what a protein treatment is and how to use it. Then the poor girls at the salon had to help me pick a product because honestly, I didn’t even know what I was looking for. Gel? Spray? Nope, a hair mask. So confusing!
After that it was a quick dash back to the groomers to pick up my gorgeous boy, who was ready to go. As usual, he looked very handsome.
The marathon of events continued. I dropped Wicket off at home then ran over to Bulk Barn to get some mustard seed and mustard powder for tomorrow. (I’m making relish and mustard!) I had just enough time to grab what I needed before heading over to the sports medicine clinic for a cortisone shot. My poor shoulder has not improved at all. The doctor suggested a cortisone shot. If my AC is the problem, it should make it magically better. If not, then that sucks because I will have spent $20 injecting myself for no reason AND it means the source of the problem is harder to determine. So here’s hoping it works. It’s too hard to tell right now, as the injection site is a little painful. I should know in a couple days.
After that, it was home time where I quickly whipped together dinner before my final errand of the night – run club with my fellow survivors.
And that was the day! Jam packed but it felt good to get through more of the to-do list. It’s surprising how so many little things can feel so heavy on your subconscious!
