First on my list – giving the house a good cleaning. I have a checklist of weekly and monthly cleaning that I printed off the Martha Stewart website. I have to say, the list is completely insane and would make me have very low self-esteem if I thought I should follow it. However, if you substitute “weekly” for “monthly”, and “monthly” for “a couple times a year” then the list is quite reasonable. (Honestly, who dusts their books and light fixtures every damn week?!) Using her list as a guide to keep me focused, I was cleaning machine for a couple hours. Combined with some of my tidying and sorting from earlier in the week, I was finally feeling pretty good about the house.
One of the areas I tidied was my sewing area. I found an old rose bowl and some crystals, and created a pretty holder for my scissors and pencils:
Overall, Epic Shari Week was good. Of course, more time off is always welcome. But I managed to stay off my email (I don’t even remember my password which should make going back to work on Monday interesting!) and really disconnect from work for a few weeks. I feel refreshed. This re-set was just what I needed to start to feel like myself again.
