I didn't change my mind during the weekend so this morning I called the office. They told me they would let Dr. M and Dr. D know, and then would get back to me with a surgery date. I thought I would hear by the end of the week. Imagine my surprise when they called me back a few hours later.
That was the first surprise. The second surprise was my surgery date - April 14. Two weeks from now. In the back of my mind I had always thought it would be towards the end of April or early May before they would be able to fit me in. I was not expecting it to be so soon.
I guess it's good that I'm getting in sooner rather than later. Even though I don't have an aggressive form of cancer, it's still cancer. It's never a good idea to leave it hanging around. But it does make it suddenly very real. As in, they're actually going to do this. They are really, truly going to be removing my breasts. I really, really, really do have cancer.
