In a few short hours we'll be up, up and away - flying to Phoenix for holidays/worst race time ever.
I am not much of a traveler so I've spent the morning feeling stressed and out of sorts. When we were at the ballet the other day, Mom asked where I would like to go if I could go anywhere. My answer: nowhere, right here is good! Honestly, if it were up to me I'd never leave the house. Dennis is at the opposite end of the spectrum. He loves travel. He would go somewhere every week if he could. Marriage really is about learning the art of compromise.
I'm prone to motion sickness so getting there is not half the fun for me. (Stupidest expression ever! Obviously who ever said it has never been in a major airport.) Once I'm in a place I enjoy myself, particularly if the destination has outlet shopping. (Phoenix Ross store - prepare yourself! I'm on my way!) But I'm always counting the days until I return, and I never totally relax until the plane takes off and starts to make its way back to home.
One of the things I miss most when I'm away is Wicket. It's nice to get a break but the day never feels quite right without him. I'm using to having his fuzzy little face start each day. Going to sleep isn't the same without having him stretched out beside me, nestling close for a good snuggle.
I also miss my family. Today Dad is taking us to the airport. I love that I get a chance to have some dad time before we head off. Somehow it has a way of starting the trip off on the right foot. I don't get many chances to hang out with dad on my own, so I like that it's become a bit of a tradition for him to drive us to the airport.
