Today I had a visit from Mom, Dad and Tracy. They brought over Easter baskets for us, which was very sweet. (Literally and figuratively, since they included chocolate bunnies.)
Along with the baskets, mom also brought over a batch of carrot cupcakes for me. My mom's carrot cake is one of my favourite treats in the world and it was so nice she made a batch just for me.
Unfortunately I'm still dealing with nausea, and the smell of them was not working for me at that point. But she had brought them in a freezer bag so I could save them for later.
It was nice to have some family time. They were all glad to see me up and showered, and dressed in regular clothes. Not that they care about my fashion sense, but I think they were just relieved I was feeling better and wasn't stuck in bed too sick to move.
I also had a visit from the home care nurse. My stitches are healing beautifully. She thinks that I might be able to get my dressings off in a couple more days. This is great news, since it means that then I'll be able to shower when I want. Right now, I'm having to wait until the home care nurse tells me what time she's coming, and then shower about 30 minutes before she's due to arrive. I'm glad I'm able to shower each day but it will be nice when I can do it on my own timeline.
