Dennis has had two weeks off from work to help me as I recover from surgery. He's been doing a good job of keeping things going with laundry, as well as making sure I have everything I need. Meals, medication reminders, cheering up - he's been wonderful to me.
Since he had a bit of time at home, he's been doing some renovations in the living room. It started out to be fairly minor - just give the two feature walls a new coat of paint. But...then when he took down the blinds they didn't come off very nicely so there was some patching and sanding that had to be done. Then he decided to remove the baseboards and get new ones, as the old ones were going to look pretty shabby next to the new paint and furniture. He also figured he may as well update the plug-ins with decora covers. One thing leads to another....so our new coat of paint now means we're also looking at:
- New blinds - something fabric, but we've yet to pick it out
- New vent covers (ordered)
- New loveseat and chair (already purchased but not yet delivered)
- New artwork (since the old artwork won't really go with the orange furniture)
- Polishing the floors (may as well since everything was moved out for the painting)
- Possibly a new rug, so that the furniture doesn't scratch up the newly polished floors
- Possibly a new coffee table (one that goes more in the corner) and new lamp
Even though this ended up being a bigger project than we realized, I am happy with the results so far. I mean sure - I kind of missing having blinds. The neighbourhood doesn't need to know our business! But the wall colour is great. It really brightens up the room.
