Today we had one essential task to check off our list: pick up our race packages. Mission accomplished! Now the only thing left is to just run the13.1 miles.
Typically when you pick up your race package there will be a health & fitness expo. Dennis had always lamented that the expos we'd been to for other races were small and not very exciting. He always wanted to go to a big one. Today his wish came true. The expo was huge! It took up a good chunk of the main floor of the convention centre and included a bit of everything - clothes, food, shoes, running gear. Dennis was in heaven. I was less enthralled, as I'm not one for big crowds and it was very congested. But I let him have his fun. It's not every day that a dream comes true!
Dennis tends to be a bit scientific with his running. He always wants to know about the latest developments in products. He's always looking at how he can improve his time or his technique. I'm more laid back - I run to keep the ol' ticker healthy and to reduce stress. I'm not as into the fine tuning as he is. But that's okay - there's room for all kinds of approaches in running. It's an individual sport (unless you do relay of course!). It's about finding what works for you. Which is why I loved this so much I had to get a picture:
