A few weeks ago I had an early morning meeting and I felt like I needed to bring some treats. Normally cupcakes would be my go-to item but I thought I needed something a bit more breakfast-like. Cinnamon buns are always a nice option because they feel like breakfast but have the sugar of a cupcake. The best of both worlds!
Of course, me being me- I felt like I couldn't make just regular cinnamon buns. I had seen some friends post pictures of "rose" cinnamon buns on Facebook that looked just gorgeous. In Googling to find some recipes, I actually stumbled across another version that I decided to try - pinwheel cinnamon knots. I found a great recipe from Cake Crumbs. I was a little apprehensive at first because it called for the yeast to be mixed with the dry ingredients, which is something I've never done. But it actually turned out really well. I'm not always happy with my yeast products - they are never as fluffy as I want. But this was the best batch I've made in a long, long time.
