Even with a few more options, it's a bit of a logistical challenge. I still have twinges on my left side (and by twinges, I mean a sudden sharp stabbing pain) so back-close bras are not ideal. I have no idea what cup size I am right now or how quickly I will change cup sizes during this process so that filters out some other styles. One of the Breast Health Centre nurses had recommended zip-front yoga bras from Wal-Mart. We had a bit of trouble tracking them down but did find one, which I bought. It's not bad although not my favourite. It's really hard to find front-close bras these days. Luckily I am able to pull things on so I was able to broaden my search to include over-the-head styles.
After doing some trial and error, I've found a couple options that work for me:

I've purchased the Champion bras from Costco before (pre-cancer) and really like them for running. They provide enough hold but are still pretty comfortable. Usually Costco will rotate in different colours, although the basic style remains the same. This week they had reversible ones in, so you get a bonus colour.
They had them in a two-pack for $25. I picked up a package - I think they should work fine. As a bonus, I should still be able to use them when I'm at my final size.

These bras have been the best ones I've found so far in my exhaustive (bordering on obsessive) search. They are a wonderful soft fabric, so very comfortable against my skin. What with all my nerve endings being disrupted, I'm still getting used to how things feel against my chest. They're lightly padded which is nice because it does give me a bit of shape right now. The pads are removable as well which makes it more versatile. Not sure what options I will need down the road so it's good to find things that are flexible.
It's also a very reasonable price - $7 for each. Given that I wasn't expecting to have to buy a bunch of new bras, it's nice that I can find a bargain.
It does make me think though about whether - when all this is done - I should go to a good lingerie store for a fitting. I'm not going to have a clue what size I am anymore! So it might be good to have some professional help. And perhaps treat my new foobs to some higher-end lingerie. Not that I don't appreciate a good Wal-Mart bra, but it might be nice to have something special to celebrate.
